We Are a Global Student Network Advancing Learning & Problem-Solving with AI in Our Schools
The AI Youth Alliance (AIYA) is a network of student chapters around the world dedicated to developing and promoting hands-on opportunities to learn, lead and innovate with AI in our academic communities.
In collaboration with faculty and administrative advisors, we seek to deliver experiential programming that empowers students to exert agency in learning and develop the AI fluency, foundational techniques, and critical literacy that are essential for career success and personal well-being in an AI future.
Meeting the Generational Challenge of AI
AI represents an unprecedented challenge to our generation's well-being and future success. On the one hand, it is an incredibly powerful tool that promises to expand our horizons, amplify our capacity to pose and answer questions, and operate as a force-multiplier to solve problems in the real world. At the same time, AI threatens to harm academic development and cognitive well-being in immediate and profound ways.
In order to thrive in the Age of AI, we must equip ourselves with the foundational AI literacy and technical fluency necessary to secure our futures.
A recent MIT study on the cognitive consequences of AI usage demonstrated that offloading necessary cognitive effort can lead directly to a measurable atrophy in critical thinking, analytical capacity, genuine authorship, and true subject mastery.
